About The Body Edit
Hi, I’m Janine, founder of The Body Edit.
I’m a single mum of two boys. My first was born when I was 19 years old, which was a huge shock to my body. I remember looking down 5 days later and thinking wow that’s my body gone and I’ll never feel right or like “me” again. It came with a feeling of deep sadness. When you’re pregnant it’s all happiness and excitement and no one seems to talk about the postpartum stage, the what and how you should feel and the support that is out there to help you build up your confidence and self-esteem. Life becomes about the new bundle of joy and not looking after the Mum.
So that’s where my fitness journey began all them years ago, as a new Mum young trying to navigate life, my new body, my new life and hold it all together!
5 years ago, at the age of 31, I decided to get into the fitness industry full time as I’d been on such a journey with my own body confidence and building my self worth back up.
I was then and still am dedicated to helping all of you; Females, New Mums, Prenatal, Pregnant ladies, Postnatal, Pre & Post Menopause ladies. I know the struggles and also the wins along the way. What struck me first was the Mental Health benefits, it was how it made me feel eating well and moving my body more. I felt uplifted instantly. I then began to think clearly and I felt like I had a personal challenge, something for me to focus on and achieve a goal for ME, these are the daily wins as we now call them. Small goals really do lead to bigger goals and the consistency of time does the rest.
I started off not knowing how to train, or where to start with exercise and nutrition. So I started with home workouts, I bought a treadmill and used to use this 3-4 times a week when the kids were in bed. I then joined a gym, started to take some classes while my kids were at school.
I quickly lost weight but I also lost my bum and my legs would go skinny, so I decided to find a personal trainer to learn the weight/strength training. Eventually I moved to an online coach to guide me with good nutrition to build the muscle as I wanted to feel strong and build my legs and glutes. I now have the curves I dreamt of, feel super confident and I love going to the gym and working out as it does wonders for my health and wellbeing.
At 36, I’m surrounded with women of all ages (clients and friends / family) which made me realize I am now on my journey towards the perimenopause. All women go through these changes in their hormones and bodies but I was struggling to find a lot of support or knowledge around this in the fitness industry. Again, I wanted to give my clients the best service I could in order to get the best results with them, so I decided to dive into this topic and research more and more so I could support them.
It’s very important to me to treat every client as an individual , every female is on their own path and journey, and I’m there every step of the way
